I was lucky enough to find a good example of a vintage Certina DS with the Turtle back. This particular caseback I refer to as the "steel pan" bc it resembles the West Indian steel drum surrounding the Tortise. Certain brands put alot of thought into caseback design and I appreciate that. I wouldn't dive with it now but I'd love to grab one of these, though still collecting vintage DS models. Oh yeah it came on a great old bonklip bracelet. Good review 👍🏼

Certina diver - durable, Mido diver GMT (true GMT - full size), and Grand Seiko (not sure which one - but seeing the dial in person, is believing. I have met five salesmen in my very long life (that's called winning - being old- not all my friends were successful in that light). I have lived in four Arab Countries, a dozen European countries, and 39 states - that is where I have lived or visited for over two weeks - I am well traveled, and have seen excellence and sillly. I have two true watch makers and a very good hobbiest watchmaker with a retail store. WIL BETHUNE is now my choice for the brands they carry.

BASIC BUSINESS STOREFRONT FAIL !!!! OUTSTANDING SERVICE AT TEDDY BOUTIQUE BRICK AND MORTAR STORE IN WESTLAKE, OH (West of Cleveland). BUTTTTTTTTTT ...... HARD to find their ACTUAL open hours. (3rd edited version of rant.) Comment below mentioned they wanted to go to the storefront triggered me, as I did made this trip from a different state, twice, and had no end of problems with the hours information THEY PROVIDED. The hours on google maps, teddy website, teddy phone answering machine (RANDOMLY CHANGES MESSAGES between store and on-line store), and staff called last week about hours DO NOT AGREE. The answering message states hours for on-line store or storefront without defining WHAT hours they mean (different for store front. Calling staff last week did not agree and confused the hell out of me. cases. When I eventually showed up when they were open, the salesman was absolutely very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. I learned more in an hour than 20 hours on-line and got to try on over a dozen watches from a number of brands. It gave me a lot to think about of what I actually wanted/will buy in the future. I bought no watches that day, but asked for the business card of the commission salesman as I used to work commission. I will not buy any watch I tried on anywhere else as that man deserves the commission on any watch he showed me.

Hey, I’m considering getting either this blue dial Chemin Des Tourelles or salmon dial Heritage 1938 chronometre. I love the look of Chemin Des Tourelles but I wonder if - despite not having COSC certification - it’s comparable in terms of precision to the Heritage model. Any advice would be much anticipated! 🙂

Hello I have a question. I have a Seiko 5 limited edition edition from the 110th anniversary. the luminescence on the indicators is lit for a few moments, is this normal? I exposed the watch to sunlight for a few hours. it didn't change anything. Can you please explain to me how it works?

I’ve owned this watch for 2 years now. Looks and fits perfectly on my medium 7.5 wrist. My only comment is for the sake of 2 cents of material, the included nylon strap was just bit short forcing me to spend $20 for a third party strap. Come on Marathon.

I love this watch - big, bright and tooly. You can still get old versions from the 70s but the newer reissues were/are hard to get. Hopefully that will change now.

I don't think I'm a good fit for this one, but I love everything you've said about Certina as a brand. I'm pretty sure I'll get the 38mm Action Diver, but I'd have to try it on first. Maybe a weekend trip to Cleveland.

If you google Diver Images, you hardly see if any, any if any divers using mechanical watches. They use dive computers.Sure they maybe 1 or 2 that use a watch, but these are outliers. Dive watches are fantasies. Fo you to look at and say wow 1000 meters, ahhhh. zzzz. thats it. I am not against waterproofing, but 99.9% of those buying a dive watch will never go close to its rating. Keep dreaming.

I have a Certina DS PH200M and it’s a spectacular retro diver. Best $750 I ever spent on a watch. Punches way above its weight.

Picked up the black version and wow! Also look at the Mido ocean start divers 600 chronometer si. both of these are 100% better tan my sea dweller on a dive by performance. Great review!

I'm a certified scuba diver and I have a Certina DS Action diver and it's spectacular! The Certina brand is a real diver's diver watch and at under $1000 I have no problem scuba diving with it. I can't say I would do the same with an Omega diver.

Man, I love this watch!! I can't decide between this watch and the Tissot Seastar 2000 in teal. The Certina has the heritage in diving but I can get over the wave dial on the Tissot. I can't choose!

dive watches were there and will be in future , but for a while they were hyped and i guess the hype is starting to fade and soon they will not be as hyped as they are now . i guess the market is heading to more smaller classic dressy casual watches .
